Useful, informative vehicle tracking requires vehicle tracking software and a vehicle tracking unit mounted in the vehicle, typically under the dash or seat and out of reach of the driver. Track My Car offers both. Our trackmycar.lk application is a Web-based software platform that is accessible from any Internet-connected computer or smartphone.
Our Tracking units have built-in logic to sense if cellular coverage is not available. During its time out of coverage, the device stores each GPS message and Key On/Off event. Once the unit comes back into cellular coverage, all the information is sent to Trackmycar.lk
There are many reasons you may need a GPS tracking device. Here are some of them:
◉ Locate a vehicle in case of theft. ◉ Monitor the driving behavior of your teenage driver. ◉ Helps you enforce a driving contract you may have with your teenage driver. ◉ Know where the vehicle is and where it has been. ◉ Know if and when a speed limit is violated. ◉ Know if and when a geofence is breached. ◉ Know if and when the vehicle is used during after hours.
A Geofence is a virtual perimeter on a geographic area using a location-based service, so that when the geofencing vehicle enters or exits the area an alert is generated. The alert can contain information about the location and speed of the vehicle and may be sent to a mobile telephone or an email account.
No. All you need is a pc, an internet connection, and a browser. We recommend Firefox 2+ and Internet Explorer 6+. Use other browsers at your own risk 🙂
You can choose to set and receive the following alerts
◉ Speed Alerts: When the vehicle speed exceeds the set speed ◉ Tow Alerts: When the vehicle moves while the ignition is off ◉ Geofence Alerts: When the vehicle enters or leaves a geofenced area ◉ After Hours Alerts:When the vehicle is used during after hours
All these alarms can be set using our web based application, and emails are sent when the alerts are triggered.
The technology behind these systems is essentially the same and Track My Car even provides GPS fleet management systems that integrate with commercial in-vehicle navigation as an option to consider. The GPS fleet management system is a business tool, which consists of vehicle units for your fleet and an online system for managing the fleet from your office. If you are also considering in-vehicle navigation, please discuss with us first so we can get you set up with a compatible system.
Yes. You can get on-demand reporting for the previous 180 days. However, we archive all your data in perpetuity. To access data beyond the 180-day time frame, please contact your Track My Car account representative.
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) developed by the United States Department of Defense and managed by the United States Air Force.
GPS can be used almost anywhere near the earth, and is often used by civilians for navigation purposes. An unobstructed line of sight to four satellites is required for non-degraded performance. GPS horizontal position fixes are typically accurate to about 5 meters. GPS uses a constellation of between 24 and 32 medium Earth orbit satellites that transmit precise radio wave signals, which allow GPS receivers to determine their current location, the time, and their velocity.
GPS tracking uses a vehicle tracking system, which is an electronic device installed in a vehicle to enable the owner or a third party to track the vehicle's location. Most modern vehicle tracking systems use GPS modules for accurate location of the vehicle. Many systems also combine a communications component such as cellular or satellite transmitters to communicate the vehicle’s location to a remote user. Vehicle information can be viewed on electronic maps via the Track My Car software.
Track My Car GPS uses a cellular communication component to communicate the vehicle's location to our servers. Unlike many GPS tracking service providers, our GPS tracking device continuously sends the position of the vehicle at set intervals (10, or 5 seconds depending on your plan). So you always have a history of where the vehicle has been.
The vehicle device is powered by the vehicles 12-volt or 24-volt battery. It also has its own built-in backup battery in case it does not receive power from the vehicle battery for some reason. The backup battery lasts for 10 hours and the vehicle device will send you an alert when the battery is running low.
30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the vehicle. Our trained personnel will install the vehicle device. Once the vehicle has been installed, it takes another 10 to 15 minutes to configure the system for live use.
